Edith L. (Dinsmore) Cole age 90 of Pembroke and Truro passed away Saturday, March 19 at Seashore Point Wellness and Rehabilitation Center in Provincetown. She was the wife of the late Walter C. Cole. Edith was born in Boston on May 11, 1920 to the late Eva Belle (Jennings) Dinsmore and Warren H. Dinsmore. She was raised in Weymouth and graduated from Weymouth High School in 1938. She and her family lived in So. Weymouth for many years, then moved to No. Abington and finally to Pembroke. Edith was cared for in her final 6 years by Chris Ann and Timothy Johnson and family in Truro.
Edith worked for 30 years as an administrative assistant in human resources at Royal Insurance in Boston, retiring in 1987. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Abington and Pembroke, the Society of 8 hats and 40 women in Plymouth and National Grange of Duxbury -Webster and Abington.
Edith enjoyed trailer camping with her husband especially in Vermont, other travel experiences and time spent with family and friends. She was devoted to her great great grandson, James, and above all to her granddaughter, Chris Ann.
She was mother of the late Sandra C. Hamblin of Norwell and Marilyn G. Nutter and her husband Donald, of Whitman. sister of the late Dorothy Howard of Hanover and the late Ethel M. Richardson of Pembroke grandmother of Chris Ann Johnson and her husband Timothy, great grandmother of Stephanie M. Richardson and her husband, Joshua and Matthew Johnson; and great great grandmother of James Richardson, all of Truro, sister in law of Elizabeth Thompson and Dorothy Cole of Weymouth and she also leaves several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours at the C.C. Shepherd Funeral Home 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) so. Weymouth on Tuesday March 22 from 2-4 and 6-8. Funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday March 23 at noon. Burial will be at a later date in Colebrook Cemetery, Whitman.
