Lawrence W. Cassese

Lawrence W. Cassese, age 82, passed away at his home on Sunday, January 9, 2011. Larry leaves his beloved wife of 59 years, Elsie (Cain) Cassese and two children, Lawrence Cassese, Jr., and Jeri Johnson. Larry was the proud grandfather of Timothy Cassese (of Wayland, MA). He is predeceased by his daughter Cynthia Zammitt. A Weymouth native, he lived in Weymouth all his life, graduating from Weymouth High School then Wentworth Institute. He served his country as a member of the Naval Reserve. Larry spent most of his life working in the local family business, Weymouth Concrete Block Company. Towards the end of his career he also worked at Alvin Hollis and Raytheon Company in Quincy. Larry was community minded and was very involved with many local organizations. Most recently he was Chairman of Weymouth Elder Services and reached his 50th anniversary with the Weymouth Rotary Club. He was proud to be a past president of Rotary and was twice honored as a Paul Harris Fellow. Larry took pleasure from all aspects of life: his family, traveling, reading, sailing, politics, weekends in Orleans (Cape Cod) and, most of all, interacting with people. Larry will be missed by many. The Funeral will be from the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth on Saturday January 15 at 10:30 A.M. followed by a Funeral Mass at the Immaculate Conception Church, 720 Broad St. Weymouth at 11:30 A.M. Visiting Hours will be on Friday from 4 to 9 P.M.
