Rita Stearns

Rita (Barron) Stearns, age 77, passed away at the Colonial Nursing Home in Weymouth on Monday January 3, 2011. Rita was the wife of the late Harvey R. Stearns and is survived by her devoted daughter, Lauren Burke, son-in-law, John of South Weymouth and her loving grandchildren, Michael, James and Emily. She also leaves her sister, Rose Leppo of Randolph. Rita was born and grew up in Boston, was a long time resident of Randolph and retired with her husband to Bradenton, FL for 5 years before returning to Weymouth to be close to her family. Rita returned to school later in life and received a Sociology degree from Bridgewater State College. She enjoyed painting portraits, playing piano and volunteering her time at local hospitals. Visiting Hours will be at the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth on Thursday January 6 from 11:30 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. immediately followed by a Funeral Service at 12:30 P.M. Interment will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at 2:30 P.M.
