Francis W. Powers, age 86, passed away at the Cape Regency Nursing Facility on Sunday November 21, 2010. He was the wife of the late Grace (Houlahan) Powers and is survived by his children, Maureen Feehan and her husband Richard of Centerville, Karen Powers of Delray Beach, FL, Mark Powers and his wife Dianne of Londonderry, NH, Robert Powers of Portsmouth, NH and Sheila Powers of Pompano Beach, FL. And his grandchildren Michael Feehan and his wife Marie of Falmouth, Kerryn Feehan of New York City, Colleen Feehan of Waltham, Timothy Gould of Plymouth, Christopher Gould of Gardner and Scott Powers and Emily Powers both of Londonderry, NH. Francis is predeceased by his son, William Francis Powers. He was born in Melrose, grew up in Melrose and Wakefield, lived in South Weymouth from 1955 to 1983 moved to Harwich Port then Marshfield for 12 years before moving to Centerville. Francis graduated from Melrose Catholic High School and Boston College and was a member of the Golden Eagles. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Francis was a traveling pharmaceutical salesman for Sandoz in NJ for 30 years. After retiring in 1983 he sold real estate on Cape Cod. Francis loved golf and got a hole in one at Cranberry Valley in Harwich. He was a past President of the Boston College Club of Cape Cod. The Funeral will be from the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth on Wednesday November 24 at 11 A.M. followed by a Funeral Mass at the St. Francis Xavier Church, 261 Pleasant St. S. Weymouth at 12 Noon. Visiting Hours will be on Tuesday from 4 to 8 P.M. Interment will be in the St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Weymouth.
