Walter B. Grant, Jr.Surrounded by his family, Walter B. Grant Jr. of Weymouth died at South Shore Hospital on December 12, 2003 at the age of 70. Born in Dorchester, Mr. Grant resided with his family in Weymouth for the last 41 years. He considered himself blessed to have enjoyed a loving marriage of 48 years to his wife, Mary A. (Imbescheid) Grant. In addition to his wife, he leaves behind his devoted children and their spouses, Walter B. III and Kathy Grant of Weymouth, Susan and John Junta of Braintree, Mary Grant and Jim Canavan of North Adams, Edward and Brooke Grant of Harvard, Christine and Dan Slattery of Wakefield and Kevin and Julie Grant of Scituate. He was the proud grandfather of David Stetson; Rachel and Sarah Grant; Madeline, Bridget, Emily and Brendan Grant; Mackenzie and Colin Grant, and Owen Slattery. He is survived by his sisters Lorna Bardon and Barbara Hill his brother in-law Frank Hill, his brother James Grant, and his sister’s in-law Joan Donovan and Helen Healey. He was the son of the late Walter B. Sr. and Helen Grant and brother of the late Eleanor Curley. He leaves behind a large and caring family of nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews, and he will be deeply missed by his many friends. He was a Korean War era veteran who ran a small business Atlantic Gas Station in Weymouth Landing for several years before joining Pearl Street Motors where he worked for 30 years as Service Manager before his retirement in 1998. Mr. Grant was a graduate of Newbury Junior College in Boston. He was a devoted Boston sports fan. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending time at his camp in Vermont. He was a long time member of the Adams Heights Men’s Club of Quincy. He was an avid reader. He most enjoyed being in the company of his family and friends.Funeral from the C.C. Shepherd Funeral Home at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Square) South Weymouth on Thursday December 18 at 8 AM. Funeral Mass at the Immaculate Conception Church 720 Broad St. Weymouth at 9 AM. Visiting Hours are Wednesday 2to4 and 7to9 PM.
