Edward J. Murphy

Edward Joseph Murphy, age 90 passed away at the South Shore Hospital on Thursday October 7, 2010. Edward was the husband of the late Ellen (Jerpi) Murphy. He is survived by his 2 children, Joan M. Gudas of Norwood and Ronald E. Murphy and his wife Catherine of Henderson, NV. Edward also leaves his 3 grandchildren, Erik Gudas, Leigh Clarke and her husband David, Stephen Murphy and his wife Rejane, and his 4 great grandchildren Kayleigh, Nathan and Jamie Gudas and Mason Clarke. He was born in Boston and lived the last 70 years in Braintree. Mr. Murphy was a Carpenter for the Braintree School Department for 36 years before his retirement in 2008. A Funeral Mass will be held at the St. Francis Assisi Church, 856 Washington St. in Braintree on Tuesday October 12 at 10:30 A.M. Visiting Hours will be at the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq,) S. Weymouth on Monday from 4 to 8 P.M. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Ed’s memory to the Dana Farber Cancer Center at South Shore Hospital, 101 Columbian St, S. Weymouth, MA 02190.
