Margaret Frances Crocker (Carey)
Margaret Frances Crocker (Carey) of Weymouth, West Yarmouth and Wilder, Vermont died peacefully at the age of 97 on September 14th at her home in Wilder, Vermont in the tender embrace of her two daughters. She was the loving and devoted wife of the late Rendell Crocker, the loving and proud mother of Col. David Crocker (Ret.) and his wife Anne, Dian Pekin and her husband Tarik, Rev. Ronald Crocker and his wife Donna and Linda Genovese and her husband Robert. She was predeceased by her dear brothers Charles Burns, Leo Desmond and Alfred Carey. Her mother died at her birth and she and her biological siblings were adopted by different families. Her adopted mother died when she was four and a half years old of the flu that caused so many deaths in 1918. The untimely deaths of both her mothers taught her that life is very precious and should be greatly valued and appreciated and she lived her long life accordingly.
She is survived by her brother-in law and sister-in-law, Hilary and Peggy Crocker. She is also survived by the following beloved grandchildren and their spouses: Glenn and Doe Crocker, Susan and David Mullis, Rebecca Genovese and William Dator, Andrew and Elizabeth Crocker, Aaron and Carla Crocker, Peter Crocker, Naomi Crocker, Todd and Nancy Genovese. In addition, she is survived by eight wonderful great grandchildren: Rachel, Kira, Danielle, Evan, Samuel, Thomas, Tucker and Alden, Aidan and Maya. She also leaves behind several wonderful nieces and nephews and grand nieces and grand nephews and their families.
She was predeceased by her much loved family dogs, Queenie, Duke, Prince, Chocolate Chip, Teddy, Cleo, Carey, Bridget and Cat Amy.
Margaret lived a full and happy life which was devoted to the diligent care and nurturing of her husband and her family, working in her husband’s business (Crocker Refrigeration Co.), engaging in family projects of renovating old houses, working in her own jewelry business, working for the Weymouth School Department, supporting her church’s many activities, engaging in social and charity projects of the Order of Eastern Star and her husband’s and children’s Masonic organizations, supporting her children’s school activities, preparing and delivering meals on wheels for over twenty years, supporting her political candidates, and giving help, support and cheerful encouragement to those in need as they crossed her path. She lived a life of gratitude and great generosity of spirit and action and the world was made significantly better by her presence among us.
Her funeral service and a gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, September 24th at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 241 Broad Street, Weymouth followed by a service of interment at Blue Hills Cemetery and a reception thereafter. Family members and friends are most cordially invited. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to one’s local Meals on Wheels Program or to a charity of one’s choice.
