George Ellis Blood, age 89, died peacefully on Friday, August 20th at Falmouth Healthcare in Falmouth. He was born on January 20, 1921 to Margerite and Harold Blood in Holbrook. During WWII he served in the Army and was involved in the invasion of Normandy. Upon his return, he married Madeline Patry who predeceased him in 2003. Together they raised six children in South Weymouth where he worked for C. Healey Company. He was a popular figure for many years around Columbian Square. He loved boating and was an active member at the Town River Yacht Club in Quincy. He is survived by daughters Cheryl Welch of Edgartown, Jane Green of Brockton, Monique Smith of Weymouth and Maryann Blood of Scituate. His sons George Ellis of Wiscassett, ME and Brian Blood of Pebble Beach, CA. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. A private family service will be held at a later date.
