Carver- Joseph A. McCarthy of Carver, formerly of Weymouth, passed away at the Jordan Hospital on Wednesday April 7, 2010 at the age of 92. He is survived by his beloved wife Claire N.(Dale), his 4 children Rita M. Lounge of Weymouth, John J. McCarthy of Pembroke, Daniel M. McCarthy of Hanson, Dorothy A. Hebert of Weymouth, Brother of Mary Gallagher of Weymouth and the late Francis and John McCarthy. Also survived by 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was born in Boston and lived in Weymouth for over 60 years and in Carver for the last 26 years. He worked for the U.S. Post Office in South Weymouth as a letter carrier for many years. Joe worked also at the Park Ave Market in S. Weymouth and the Cumberland Farms Store in Wareham.

Joe was a member of the South Carver Lions Club and was an avid Red Sox fan. He enjoyed playing cards, especially cribbage and reading. He also enjoyed the many winters he spent in Florida. Joe proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WW II in India.

Funeral from the C.C. Shepherd Funeral Home 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq) S. Weymouth on Monday April 12, at 9A.M. followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Francis Xavier Church at 10 A.M. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours on Sunday from 4-8 P.M. Burial will be at Pine Hill Cemetery West Bridgewater.
