Helen F. (Vinal) Anderson passed away on Thursday March 18, 2010 at the age of 85. Helen was the wife of the late Henry Arthur Anderson, the beloved mother of Lars H. Anderson and his wife Marie P. of Merrimac and Charles V. Anderson and his wife Annatolia A. of Braintree and the grandmother of Marcel Anderson and Jesula Anderson both of Merrimac. She was the sister of the late Albert Vinal Jr. and Arthur H. Vinal. Mrs. Anderson was born and raised in South Weymouth, she attended Thayer Academy in the class of 1942 where she excelled in girls athletics and had a great passion for field hockey. She continued her education at Connecticut College graduating in 1947 and also attended Katherine Gibbs School in Boston. Helen went on to work at Harvard Business School as a secretary until 1960. She was a dedicated loving mother to her two sons and her two grandchildren. Helen enjoyed volunteering at the Long Island Hospital in Quincy Bay and the Hingham Congregational Church Consignment shop. Helen was a member of Old South Congregational Church in S. Weymouth in her younger years, and later when she moved to Hingham, the Hingham Congregational Church. Helen had a great love for animals, gardening and Jazz Music. She also enjoyed traveling to the Rangeley Lakes Region of Maine. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday March 24, 2010 at 1:30 P.M. at the Old South Union Congregational Church. Visiting Hours will be on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 P.M. at the C.C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth. Donations may be made in Helen’s Memory to the Old South Union Congregational Church 25 Columbian St. S. Weymouth MA 02190 or the Beacon Hospice, 350 Main St. Haverhill, MA 01830.
