Edgar James (Jimm) Mills-Price passed away Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at his home in Fort Myers, Florida on March 2, 2010 of Mesothelioma. He was previously a resident of S Weymouth, Massachusetts. In 1980, he moved with his family to Ft. Myers, Florida where he became a Certified Financial Planner and practiced in Southwest Florida for more than 24 years. The last 15 years were dedicated to his own firm of the same name. He established Florida’s first Certified Financial Planners Association.
He was born in Worcester, Massachusetts on May 9, 1933 to Jessie Adele (Gray) Mills-Price and Edgar James Mills-Price. At the age of 17 he enlisted in the United States Navy and was immediately sent to Korea where he served on the USS Missouri. He was extremely proud of his military career. He retired after 22 years in the Navy in 1971 and returned to Massachusetts where he returned to college to earn degrees in accounting and finance from Northeastern University. Later he earned a masters degree in financial planning.
He was a generous and giving man. Over the years, he acted as a financial advisor to several not-for-profit organizations including the Soup Kitchen, Lifeline Ministries, and Faith-in-Action. In addition to his ministry work he was a member of the Military Retired Officers Association, Fleet Reserve Association, and a Mason at Rural Lodge in Quincy, MA. He was and is a faithful servant of God and was a member of Holy Nativity Church in S Weymouth, MA and St. Hilary’s Episcopal Church in Ft. Myers, Florida.
He leaves behind Roberta Anne (Vickers) Mills-Price, his beautiful bride of 54 years – the true love of his life. He also leaves his daughter Kimberly Ann Corners of Plymouth, MA, a son Steven J. Mills-Price of Fort Myers, FL, a granddaughter, Chelsea Corners, and a grandson, William M Corners, III both of Plymouth, MA. He also leaves behind a sister Adele J Olsson of S. Weymouth, MA.
He was greatly depended on by the entire family and had a place in his heart for all of them. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, son-in-law, uncle and brother in- law. He was truly loved and will be dearly missed. His faith was an inspiration and made him the person that he was.
Memorial services remembering him and celebrating his life will be held at the St. Hilary’s Episcopal Church on Saturday March 6, at 2 P.M. and the Holy Nativity Church on Saturday March 13 at 11 A.M.
