Marvin C. Measor formerly of Weymouth, age 84, passed away on Saturday, January 30, 2010 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton after a brief illness. Marvin was born and raised in Beaver, Oregon and spent his early years working on the family dairy farm. He proudly served two tours in the Navy, one in World War II and one in the Korean War. While in the Navy, he met and married his wife of 57 years Patricia (Norcott) Measor in 1952. They lived for a time on the Measor family farm in Oregon and then moved their family to Weymouth, MA in 1963. He lived there for 46 years until he moved in with his son Mark in Raynham in 2009. Marvin worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Oregon as a rural mail carrier while he was working on the farm. When he moved to Weymouth he continued working for the Post Office and retired from the Braintree Post Office as a clerk in 1988. Marvin was an avid gardener and loved to cultivate roses. He also loved to travel and took many long road trips, driving all over the U.S. and Canada. He is survived by his wife Patricia and his two sons, David Measor of Kingston, MA, and Mark and his wife Carol Measor of Raynham, MA; his sister-in-law Betty Measor of Beaver, Oregon, his daughter-in-law Heather Measor of Maine. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Kimberly Measor of Framingham, MA, Kevin and his wife Nikki Measor of Moreno Valley, California, Jennifer Measor-Hunter and her husband Scott, Kristin Measor of Raynham, MA and Derek Measor of Kingston, MA. He was predeceased by his mother Addie and father Ray Measor, his sister Drusilla and her husband Arnold Fern, his brother Ken Measor of Beaver Oregon, son Steven Measor of Weymouth, MA and daughter-in-law Robynn Measor of Kingston, MA. A Graveside service will be held at the Mt. Hope Cemetery, Oak Street, South Weymouth, MA on Saturday February 6 at 1 P.M. All are invited to join the family at the Old South Union Church in Columbian Square South Weymouth, MA for refreshment following the services.
