Gordon T. Barnes Sr.

Gordon T. Barnes Sr. age 97, passed away at the Rosewood Manor Rest Home in Harwich on November 22, 2009. Gordon was the husband of the late Cecilia (Powers) Barnes and the late Dorothy (Cross) Barnes. He is the father of Susan Whittaker of Brewster and the late G. Thomas Barnes Jr. of Weymouth, the step-father of Heather Murillo of Somerville and the step-grandfather of Angie Murillo of Somerville. Gordon was born and lived in Weymouth until moving to Brewster 4 years ago. He was an Auditor for Commercial Union Insurance Company for 35 years before retiring in 1977. Gordon was a Weymouth Town Meeting Member for many years and was on the Board of Trustees and Board of Investments at South Shore Savings Bank in Weymouth for many years. He was also a Square Dance Caller and Teacher on the South Shore for 20 years. Visiting hours will be at the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth on Saturday November 28 from 10 A.M. to 12 Noon immediately followed by a Funeral Service at 12 Noon. Interment will be in the Mount Vernon Cemetery in Abington.
