David Lovell, a life long resident of Weymouth, passed away at the South Shore Hospital on Thursday April 30, 2009 at the age of 85. Mr. Lovell was the loving husband of the late Norma (Sweetland) Lovell. He is survived by his 2 loving children, Gail L. Pike of Hingham and Richard Lovell of Quincy, his 2 devoted grandchildren, Stephen A. Pike of Weymouth and Tina Davidson-Webb of Hingham and his great grand children, James M. “Jimmy” Davidson of Hingham, Alex Webb of Quincy, Kyle David Webb of Hingham, Sean and Alyssa Pike of Weymouth and Kayla Faghan of Weymouth. Friends and relatives are invited to the Funeral Service at the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth on Monday May 4 at 11:30 A.M. visiting hours will be on Sunday 4to8 P.M. Interment will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne on Monday at 1:30 P.M. David was the owner of Dave’s Texaco Station in Lovell’s Corner for 40 years before retiring in 1981. Dave was a Paratrooper in the Army Air Corps during World War 2 and received a Bronze Star and Purple Heart. Mr. Lovell was a member of the D.A.V. in Braintree, the V.F.W. in Weymouth and the Braintree Veteran’s Council. He loved bowling and target shooting.
