Lemuel Brimmer, a resident of Weymouth since 1985, passed away at the South Shore Hospital on Tuesday April 14, 2009 at the age of 93. Mr. Brimmer is survived by his wife Pearl M. (Fargo) Brimmer, his 2 children Donald Brimmer and his wife Jeanne of Kissimmee, FL and Ellen J. Brimmer of MA, his two grandchildren, Michelle Sigafoos and her husband Kevin of Louisville, KY and Kayshen Rose and her husband Matt of Kissimmee, FL and his niece, Chris Ewing of Greenwood, AR. He is the papaw of Tim Ewing, Matt Dooly and Jon Dooly all of Greenwood, AR. Lem was born in Holden, grew up in Malden and graduated from Malden High School in 1934. He also lived in Melrose, and West Newfield, ME. He attended Wentworth Institute for 2 years and attended MIT nights to become a Registered Professional Safety Engineer. Lem worked for 40 years as a Registered Professional Safety Engineer and was employed by U.S. Fidelity Insurance Company for 13 years before retiring in 1981. Mr. Brimmer was a 65 year member of the John Cutler Lodge in Abington, a member of Valley of Boston Aleppo Temple, Scottish Rites and Shriners, Fern Eastern Star Chapter 39 in Alfred, ME and the Eastern Star Chapter 14 in Melrose. He worked 17 years with Rainbow Girls in Melrose as Treasurer and “Dad” and became the recipient of the Grand Cross of Color. Visiting will be at the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth, on Saturday April 18 from 2 to 3 P.M. followed immediately by a Memorial Service and Masonic Service with the John Cutler Lodge.
