James Chaney, age 75, died at Boston Medical Center on April 9, 2009 after a long illness.
Born and raised in Lake Village, Arkansas he moved to Massachusetts following his marriage to Helen J. (Burt) Chaney in 1961.
After 8 years in the U.S. Air Force he worked in Management at General Dynamics, Quincy Shipyard for 21 years. After the Shipyard closed he worked at Burtman Ironworks and Acme Industrial Company, retiring in 1997.
Besides his wife he is survived by his son James Chaney Jr. of Hull, his daughter Elizabeth J. Squantrito of South Weymouth, his daughter-in-law, Mary Ellen Chaney of Hull and his Son-in-law David J. Squantrito of South Weymouth.
He is also survived by his 5 grandchildren, Christopher J., Michael T. and Kathryn N. Chaney of Hull, and Christian D. and Julia E. Squantrito of Weymouth; his brother Joe Chaney of Lake Village, AR and many nieces and nephews throughout the south.
His Funeral will be held at the Old South Union Congregational Church, 25 Columbian St. S. Weymouth on Tuesday April 14 at 11 A.M. Visiting hours are Monday April 13 from 4 to 8 P.M. at the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth. Internment at the Fairmount Cemetery in Weymouth.
