Donald Gaynor, age 67, formerly of Marshfield passed away in a plane crash in Florida on April 4, 2009. Don is survived by his wife, Wendy (Myers) Gaynor, his mother, Kathryn D. Gaynor of Englewood, FL, his children; John R. Gaynor and his wife Lisa of Cave Creek, AZ. And Kim Sylvester and her husband Randy of Pembroke, his grandchildren Adam Slys, Johnny Gaynor, Provan Slys, James Gaynor, Jared Gaynor and Janelle Gaynor and his brother-in-law Ron Myers of Anguilla, B.W.I. He is predeceased by his father John “Mugsy” Gaynor. Don graduated Weymouth High School in 1960, owned and operated Mechanical Service Company in Marshfield before retiring and moving to Englewood. Don and his wife Wendy were both pilots and aviation enthusiasts. They shared a passion for flying and all things aviation, making friends everywhere in the U.S., Canada and the Caribbean. He received his pilot certificate in 1970 and has owned several single engine planes since that time. A big part of his life was spent restoring and showing his 1959 K Model Beach Bonanza which was a National Grand Champion at Oshkosh Airventure and Sun ’n Fun. Don was very active in EAA Chapter 1285 in Venice, FL and has flown many “Young Eagles”. The Gaynors have volunteered at the Sun ‘n Fun convention in Lakeland, FL as parts Exchange Co-chairs for the past 18 years. He was a member of the Experimental Aviation Association, Vintage Aircraft Association, American Bonanza Society, National Air Racing Group and Quiet Birdman. He was also a member of the American Coach Association, Southeast Chapter American Coach Association, “Mac Pack” and the Rockland Eagles. A Memorial Service will be held at the Old South Union Church, 25 Columbian St. S. Weymouth on Saturday April 11 at 10:30 A.M. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Don’s memory to the Florida Air Museum, 4175 Medulla Rd. Lakeland, FL 33811.
