John Braccia passed away at his home on Thursday March 19, 2009 at the age of 88. Mr. Braccia was the beloved husband of the late Gloria “Patty” (Garofalo) Braccia. John is survived by his 2 loving sons, John P. Braccia and his wife Linda of Rockland and Richard Braccia and his wife Helen of Marshfield. He also leaves 1 brother, Ralph Braccia of Weymouth and 3 sisters; Dolores Braccia of Weymouth, Margaret Braccia of Weymouth and Anna Ceddia of Watertown and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. John was born and lived in Weymouth before moving to Hingham 15 years ago. Mr. Braccia was a Carpenter for Union Carpenter’s local 424 for many years retiring in 1990. He served his country in the Army during World War 2 and received 5 battle stars in the European Theater. John was a past president and orator of the Sons of Italy in Weymouth, a member of the South Shore Country Club in Hingham and a past member of the Pembroke Country. The Funeral will be from the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth on Tuesday, March 24 at 8 A.M. The Funeral Mass is at St. Albert the Great Church, 1140 Washington St. E. Weymouth at 9 A.M. Visiting Hours are on Monday from 3to8 P.M. Interment will be in the St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Weymouth. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in John’s memory to the D.A.V., Room 546, State House, Boston, MA 02133-1042.
