Lily “Diamond” (Potts) Bricknell passed away at the South Shore Hospital on Tuesday March 18 at the age of 97. Mrs. Bricknell was the wife of the late Herbert Felch and the late Clayton Bricknell. Lily is survived by her daughter, Beverly Messinger of Weymouth, her 7 grandchildren; Ronald Messinger of Weymouth, Darlene Bocash-Winn of Norwell, Cheryl Avitabile of Pembroke, Donald Bocash of Norwood, Marlene Carr of Winchester, Douglas Bocash of Norwell and Pamela Knight of Hanover, 1 brother, Allen Potts of Weymouth and 19 great grandchildren. Diamond was predeceased by 1 daughter Marlene Bocash of Braintree. Mrs. Bricknell was born in Sunderland, England, at the age of 1 Lily and her mother had a ticket on the Titanic to come to America but due to an uncle wanting to see Lily before they left they changed ports and went on the Corona. Lily’s name is on the wall at Ellis Island. Mrs. Bricknell lived in Weymouth most of her life and was a member of Christ Church Episcopal in Quincy. Friends and relatives are invited to the Funeral at the Christ Church, 12 Quincy Ave. Quincy on Saturday March 21 at 10 A.M. Visiting Hours will be at the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth on Friday from 4 to 8 P.M. Interment will be in Old North Cemetery in Weymouth. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Diamond’s memory to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701.
