Dorothea (Bradford) Higgins

Dorothea C. Higgins passed away at the South Shore Hospital on February 26, 2009 at the age of 97. Dorothea was the wife of the late Truman F. Higgins. She is survived by her children, Judith Brust and her husband Richard of Weymouth and Donald Higgins Sr. and his wife Mary of Halifax, her 3 grandchildren, Don Higgins Jr. of Pembroke, Dale Higgins of Bridgewater and Stacy Lavalley of Carver, her 5 grandchildren, Courtney, Matthew and Jessica Higgins and Michael and Carlene Lavalley and her brother in law, Russell Higgins of Hawaii. Dorothea was born in Cranston, RI, grew up in Warwick, RI and lived the last 60 years in Weymouth. She graduated from Rhode Island College and taught 6 years in Warwick. Dorothea was the Founder of the Christian Kindergarten of the First Baptist Church of Weymouth where she taught for 27 years. After her retirement she tutored many children at the Kindergarten. She opened her heart to many people and gave to many charities. A Funeral Service will be held at the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth on Tuesday March 3 at 11 A.M. Visiting Hours will be on Monday 2to4 and 7to9 P.M. Interment will be in Village Cemetery in Weymouth.
