Richard M. Pattison a retired Weymouth Fire Fighter passed away on Monday June 30, 2008 at his camp in Naples, Maine at the age of 70. Dick is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jean (McDonald) Pattison, his 4 children, Debra McGrath and her husband Terrance of Weymouth, James Pattison and his wife Kerri of Weymouth, Diane Donaher and her husband Michael of Abington and Richard Pattison and his wife Alicia of Rockland and 2 sisters Beverly Carew of Hanover and Lynne Deane of Middleboro. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Dick was a life long resident of Weymouth, graduating from Weymouth High School before graduating from the Peabody School in Norwood for Culinary Arts. Mr. Pattison worked for the Fore River Ship Yard in Quincy and as a chef at Howard Johnson’s before becoming a Weymouth firefighter for 30 years retiring in 1997. He also worked as a manager of the Wampatuck Hardware Store in Hingham. Dick was an avid historian and loved doing Genealogy for his family and was the former chairman of the Weymouth Historical Commission and a member of the Weymouth Cemetery Commission. Mr. Pattison was an avid gardener and loved his flowers and plants. He really enjoyed nature. He loved most being in Maine especially when his grandchildren would come to visit. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service at the Old South Union Church, 25 Columbian St. S. Weymouth on Friday July 4 at 10 A.M. and the visiting Hours at the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth on Thursday 4 to 8 P.M. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery, in S. Weymouth. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Dick’s memory to the Weymouth Historical Society at the Holbrook House, 238 Park Ave. S. Weymouth, MA 02190 or the Weymouth Fire Department Gift Account at 630 Broad St. Weymouth, MA. 02188.
