Dorothy M. (Little) Bower passed away at the Alliance Health Care Center in Braintree on June 27, 2008 at the age of 89. Mrs. Bower was married to the late Wendell Thayer Bower of Quincy Point on April 13, 1941. She is survived by her 2 daughters Beverly Thayer Colton-Cochrane and her husband Douglas Whitman Cochrane of Scituate and Linda Ballentine of Iowa, 2 grandchildren, Robert and Scott Ballentine, 4 great grandchildren, her nieces Priscilla Currier of Weymouth and Barbara Giordano of Illinois, a nephew Donald Bowie of PA and many other nieces and nephews. Dorothy also leaves her cat, Buffet. She is predeceased by her son David Allan Bower. Mrs. Bower was born in Boston to her late parents Melvin Clarence and Maude (Smith) Little on May 27, 1919. She moved to North St. in Weymouth Heights at the age of 4 from Dorchester, graduated from Weymouth High School in 1938 and once married, lived at 16 Ardmore St. in East Braintree for 24 years before moving to 433 Pleasant St. in South Weymouth for 36 years. She was a direct descendant of Richard Warren of the Mayflower and Thomas Little who settled in Marshfield in 1650. She and her husband were both descendants of Cornet Robert Stetson, an early settler of Scituate and John Adams also of the Mayflower. Dorothy was a member of the Union Congregational Church of Weymouth and Braintree and later the Old South Union Congregational Church in South Weymouth. She was chief den mother of Pack 7 cub Scouts on E. Braintree during the 1950’s when her late son David was in Cub Scouts. She enjoyed playing the piano during the holidays for her family to sing Christmas Carols. Friends and relatives are invited to meet at the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth on Tuesday July 1 at 10 A.M. to follow to the Mount Wollaston Cemetery in Quincy for a graveside service at 11 AM.
