William M. Webb died at his home on Wednesday March 26, 2008 after a brief illness at the age of 83. He was the loving husband for 52 years of the late Teresa “Marley” (Packard) Webb. Bill is survived by 4 daughters, Carolyn A. Webb of Hull, Nancy W. Knox of Pembroke, Jean F. Tilden of Weymouth and Joan M. Villarreal of Weymouth; 2 sons, Richard C. Webb of Pembroke and David W. Webb of Halifax and 1 sister, Priscilla J. Treacy of Weymouth. He also leaves 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was born and raised in Abington and spent most of his adult life in Weymouth. Bill attended Abington Schools and served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Mr. Webb worked for the Town of Weymouth as a licensed Heavy Equipment Operator in the Sewer Department and retired as a Foreman over 20 years ago. Bill was a member of and past commander of the George R. Bean American Legion Post 79 and a member of and past Chef De Gare of the 40 and 8 Voiture Local 819 in Plymouth. In addition he was a member of the Boy Scouts of America for over 40 years and was active in Troop 19 in Weymouth, Troop 22 in Whitman and most recently Troop 25 in Plymouth and was a Vigil Honor member of Order of Arrows Lodge 164. He was also the recipient of the Silver Beaver award and the James E. West Fellow Award. Bill volunteered many summers at the Boy Scout Camp Squanto in Plymouth and for 20 years at “Meals on Wheels” in Weymouth. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral at the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth on Monday March 31 at 8 A.M. and the Funeral Mass at the St. Francis Xavier 261 Pleasant St. S. Weymouth at 9 A.M. Visiting Hours are on Sunday from 3 to 8 P.M. Interment will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Bill’s memory to South Shore Elder Services Meals on Wheels at 159 Bay State Dr., Braintree, MA 02184 the Weymouth Elder Services, 182 Green St., Weymouth, MA 02191 0r Hospice of the South Shore, 100 Bay State Dr. Braintree, MA 02185-9060.
