JoAnn Bauer passed away at her home on Friday February 1, 2008 at the age of 76. Mrs. Bauer was the loving wife for 54 years of Edward “Teddy” Bauer. JoAnn is the devoted mother of 3 children; Charles Bauer and his wife Linda of Hudson, Edward G. Bauer and his wife Kathy of Milford and Wanda M. Reed and her husband Alan of Sandwich. She is also the sister of Marie Hughes of Big Spring, TX, J. Gale Kilgore of Sand Springs, TX, Benny Kilgore of Nevada, TX, the late Velma Walker of Carlsbad, NM, Sonny Kilgore of Big Spring, TX and James Kilgore of Dublin, GA. JoAnn also leaves 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Mrs. Bauer was born and grew up in Big Spring, Texas before moving to South Weymouth in 1959. She was a graduate of the Massasoit Community College in Brockton and the University of Massachusetts in Boston. JoAnn was an active member of the Old South Union Church teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir and a member of the Missionary Committee. She was the past president of the PTA of Alice E. Fulton Grammar School, a Cub Scout den mother an active member of the Pond Plain Improvement Association and was active in the League of Women Voters. Among her favorite things were traveling with her grandchildren, playing Mexican dominos and enjoying Western Swing Music as a member of the "Western Swing Society of the South West". Friends and relatives are invited to attend the Funeral Service at the Old South Union Church, 25 Columbian St. S. Weymouth on Thursday February 7 at 11 A.M. and Visiting Hours at the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St. S. Weymouth on Wednesday from 4 to 8 P.M. Interment will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne on Thursday at 2:15 P.M. donations may be made in JoAnn’s memory to the Hospice of the South Shore, 100 Bay State Dr. Braintree, MA 02185-9060.
