Frederick E. “Rick” Gale, BTCM (SW) USN- RET a resident of Pembroke since 1993 passed away on November 17 at the Massachusetts General Hospital at the age of 55. Rick is survived by his loving wife for 35 years, Martha “Marty” (Hunt) Gale. He is the beloved brother of Valerie W. Gale of Rockland, Penny B. Byers and her husband Mike of Rockland, Alan A. Gale and his wife Susan of Windham, ME and Lorraine G. Wilcox and her husband Dave of Brockton. Mr. Gale is the son in law of Robert and Hazel Hunt and the brother in law of Patricia and Robert Mitchell and Robyn Hunt all of Hernado, FL. He is also the uncle of Rebecca, Brittany, Ashley, Chelsea, David, Steven and Michael and leaves several aunts, uncles and cousins and 4 great nieces. He is the son of the late Frederick E. and Marjorie B.Gale. Mr. Gale was born and grew up in Weymouth before starting his career in the Navy in 1970 where among other accomplishments he received 3 Commendation Medals, 2 Navy Achievement Medals and a Meritorious Service Medal. Along with several other duty stations Rick was a Main Propulsion Steam Plant Instructor for the Surface Warfare Officer’s School in Newport, RI and a Command Master Chief for the Navel Recruiting District of New England. When he retired from the Navy in 1996 he formed his own company, Effective Systems Inc. in Pembroke. Mr. Gale received a Bachelors Degree in Vocational School Education from the Southern Illinois University. Friends and relatives are invited to attend a Funeral Service at the Old South Union Congregational Church 25 Columbian St. S. Weymouth on Wednesday November 21 at 11 A.M. and the Visiting Hours at the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth on Tuesday from 5 to 8 P.M. Interment will be in Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Rick’s memory to the MA.
