John “Murph” Murphy
East Weymouth – John “Murph” Murphy a resident of East Weymouth for over 20 years died at the South Shore Hospital on November 9, 2007 at the age of 55. Murph is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Elizabeth (Sheppard) Murphy and 3 devoted children; Michael Murphy and his wife Stacy of Abington, Kathleen Pomerleau and her husband Eric of Weymouth and Daniel Murphy of Weymouth. He was also the loving grampy of Eric, Allison and Jenna Pomerleau. John is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Mr. Murphy is predeceased in death by his brothers and sisters, Thomas F. Murphy, Jeremiah V. Murphy, Agnes Damico and Mary Oliver. Murph was born in Boston, grew up in Dorchester and North Quincy before moving to East Weymouth. John graduated from Quincy High School in 1970, joined the Army to serve in the Vietnam War and then attended Northeastern University. He worked at Kmart, Reddish Rubbish Company and Electroswitch Company all in Weymouth and the last 10 years as a custodian at the Lillian Jacobs School in Hull. He was an avid Red Sox and Patriots Fan. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth on Wednesday November 14 at 8 A.M. and the Funeral Mass at the St. Jerome Church, 632 Bridge St. North Weymouth at 9 A.M. Visiting Hours will be on Tuesday from 4 to 8 P.M. Interment will be in the Fairmount Cemetery in East Weymouth. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Murph’s memory to the Tufts Library, 46 Broad St. Weymouth, MA 02188.
