David M. Tilden, age 74, of Weymouth passed away suddenly on Tuesday, November 30, 2021. Dave was a lifelong Weymouth resident graduating from Weymouth High School in 1955. He served in the Navy prior to starting a 24-year career with the Weymouth Fire Department which he loved so much. Dave also operated Tilden Excavation for many years.
Dave married his beloved wife, Jean, in 1969 and they settled on Swan Ave where Dave grew up to start and raise their own family.
Dave had an amazing presence. He always went out of his way to turn strangers into friends, and eventually friends into family. Dave cared so much about those around him and everyone has such fond memories of his legendary 4th of July party at his house in Plymouth.
Dave was predeceased by his beloved wife Jean Tilden (Webb) and his daughter Diane Marie Tilden. He is survived by his loving daughters Darlene Tilden of Weymouth, Brenda Lawson and her husband Joe of Weymouth, and Denise Ray and her husband Greg of Weymouth, his cherished grandchildren Brooke, Alyse, Sydney, Katera, and Joey, and his brother Phil Tilden. Dave has always had a special place in his heart for Princess his beloved dog and his cat Queenie.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the visiting hours for Dave on Sunday, December 5, 2021 from 2-6pm in the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) Weymouth, MA. A funeral service will take place at 10am Monday morning in the funeral home. Cremation will follow. Donations may be made in Dave’s memory to the charity of your choice.
