Dympna Theresa Adams (née Rice), age 91, of South Weymouth, passed away on Friday, October 22, 2021, at home and with her family. Dympna is survived by her children, Anthony Adams and his wife Kelly, and Cheryl Adams and her partner Paul O’Hearn. She also leaves her grandchildren, Sienna, Judah, and Fynn. She was the daughter of the late Peter Rice and Mary (Mae) Rice (McCaughey), and the sister to the late Mary (Reichardt) and Peter.
Dympna, also known as Dee to her friends, grew up in Charlestown, Chelsea, and Lynn, next door to eight cousins and surrounded by love and family. Though she grew up amidst hard times and worry, her childhood memories burst forth with joy and a radiance reflected in her smile and personality, undimmed until the end. After graduating from St Mary’s in Lynn, she became an executive secretary in some of the most dynamic firms of the era, including Stop & Shop and the US Air Force; she was highly sought-after for the speed and perfection of her work, and for her blunt ebullience. Dympna met Walter, her husband of fifty-six years, at Camp Wamindi in New Hampshire, and together they made a beautiful home in the woods of South Weymouth, where they raised two children and shared a bountiful life together. She loved being involved with St Francis Xavier, for which she served for many years as president of the Catholic Club; her community, whether as leader of her daughter’s Bluebird group, or as storyteller/driver/mom for her kids and their friends to countless school activities and fun times. She was devoted to her husband, her family, and her children; she loved to talk and mingle with her friends, and also with strangers. She loved books, the many birds and deer who frequented her home and garden, talking and socializing, always laughing, always smiling. She will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her.
