Joan O’Byrne (Cranshaw) of Abington passed away peacefully on October 20, 2021, at the age of 84. Joan was born, raised, and educated in Brockton and graduated from Brockton High School. Joan worked as a waitress at various restaurants around the south shore, most notably Cristo’s in Brockton and Ted’s Place in Whitman. After retirement Joan and her husband Chris moved to Florida to enjoy the nicer weather before moving back to Abington to spend the rest of their time with their family.

Joan was a social butterfly and would spark up a conversation to anyone about anything. She was a hard worker and determined. Above all else Joan was extremely devoted to her family always making sure everyone was cared for and loved. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Joan was predeceased by her husband of 47 years Chris O’Byrne. Joan was the loving mother of Cindy Travi and her husband Vinnie of Brimfield, the late Kenneth Thompson, Stephen Thompson Sr. of Fall River, Scott Thompson of Weymouth, and stepmother of Teresa Bergolsen and her husband Paul, Deborah Hayward and her husband Jim, Cindy Roberts and her husband Fred, Chris O’Byrne III and his wife Susan, and Kathy Manning and her husband John. She was the cherished grandmother of Melissa and Stephen Jr., Sean, Molly and Jake. Joan is also survived by many nieces, and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the visitation for Joan on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 from 10-11am in the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) Weymouth, MA. A Celebration of Life will follow the visitation at 11am. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Joan’s memory to the Mercy Ships at mercyships.org/.
