Michael McDonagh

Michael J. McDonagh, age 73, of S. Weymouth, formerly of Dorchester and Braintree, passed away after a long illness on Monday, August 16, 2021. Michael was born and raised in Connemara in County Galway, Ireland, and was the son of the late Thomas and Kate McDonagh (Faherty).

Michael was a trolley driver for the MBTA Greenline for 25 years then retired in 2010. He enjoyed working on his home in S. Weymouth.

Michael is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years Helen McDonagh (Mooney) of S. Weymouth, his children Michael McDonagh and his wife Kimberly of Weymouth and Maryellen Garrett and her husband Brendan of Hingham, and his grandchildren Shea, MJ, Shane, and Luke. Michael was the brother of Padraic McDonagh, Bridie Nee, John McDonagh and his wife Christine, Andy McDonagh and his wife Tracey, and the late Joseph, Margaret, Mary, and Thomas.

Relatives and friends will gather at the funeral home Monday morning for a Celebration of Life prior to the Funeral Mass which will begin promptly at 10am in St. Albert the Great Church in Weymouth. Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery in S. Weymouth.
