Roy E. Johnson of South Weymouth passed away peacefully on April 11, 2021 at the age of 91. Roy was born in Foxboro raised in East Bridgewater and educated at the Quincy vocational program. After his schooling Roy married his beautiful wife Margaret in 1948 and were together for 69 years. Roy was a proud United States Marine serving during the Korean War. Upon his discharge from the military Roy finished his working career managing Midway Auto Body for more than 30 years.
Roy was a man of many hobbies. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and spending time up north at his lake house in Norway, Maine. In his earlier years he would enjoy taking his family on camping trips. Roy was a lifelong member of the Masons and was a devoted member of Old South Union Congregational Church serving as a deacon for many years. Above all Roy loved being a father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend to all. He will be sorely missed by anyone who knew him.
Roy was predeceased by his adoring wife Margaret and many of his siblings. He leaves behind his children Chris Johnson of S. Weymouth, David Johnson and his wife Donna of Carver and Scott Johnson of Norway, ME. Roy was the loving grandfather to Sara and Rebecca and great grandfather to Haley and Payton. Roy also leaves behind his brother Harold Johnson, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Services for Roy will be private. Donations can be made in Roy’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org
