Donald Thomas

Donald Thomas of North Weymouth passed away peacefully at home at the age of 81 with his loving family by his side on Thursday, December 17, 2020. He was the loving husband of Margaret Thomas (Collins) for over 55 years and their two children, Patrick Thomas of North Weymouth, and Eileen Haas and her husband John of Norwell. He was the grandfather of Margaret Rose Haas. Donald is survived by many in-laws, nieces, and nephews who had a special place in his heart. Donald dedicated his life to his wife, children, and granddaughter, who he loved more than anything.

Donald was a gourmet food buyer for Filene’s for many years and had always dreamed of owning his own restaurant. He accomplished this dream in 1982 with Kathy Anne’s in Rockland. In retirement, Donald especially enjoyed time with friends and family. Donald and Peggy shared a passion for travel and enjoyed many destinations both near and far. Italy, Ireland, and France always had a special place in his heart as did his love of food and cooking.

Donald is remembered for his great sense of humor, quick wit, love of music, and his ability to make everyone feel welcomed. His hobbies included cooking, wine making, and stained-glass art to name a few.

Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate a Funeral Mass on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary of the Sacred Heart Church, 392 Hanover Street in Hanover. Interment will be at a later date at Fairmount Cemetery in Weymouth.
