F. Stephen Hayward

F. Stephen Hayward, age 76, of S. Weymouth passed away Monday, August 24, 2020. Stephen was born and raised in Quincy. After graduating Quincy High School, he joined the Navy and served his country for four years. Soon after, Stephen married his beloved wife, Pat, in 1969. They lived in Abington for a short time before settling in S. Weymouth where they raised their family.

Stephen worked as a letter carrier in S. Weymouth for over 25 years. He enjoyed fishing, Boston Sports, and was a big John Wayne fan. Above all else, Stephen loved the time he spent with his family especially his grandson Will.

Stephen was predeceased by his wife Patricia Hayward (Dempsey) in 2016. He is survived by his loving son William Hayward and his fiancé Kristen of Weymouth, his cherished grandson Will Jr., and his brother Thomas F. Hayward.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the visiting hours for Stephen on Thursday, August 27, 2020 from 4-6pm in the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) Weymouth, MA. A funeral service will take place in the funeral home immediately following the visitation at 6pm. Cremation will follow and a private burial will take place in Bourne National Cemetery.
