Bridget A. McNamara (Naughton), age 72, of N. Weymouth passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, November 30, 2019. Bridget was born in Galway, Ireland, was raised in Ireland, England and then moved to Dorchester at the age of eleven. After marriage she started a family in Dorchester then settled in N. Weymouth where she has lived since.
Bridget was a natural caretaker who loved raising her family and helping to raise her five grandchildren. Staying true to her love of caring for other she worked as a rehabilitation aid at Colonial and Harbor House Nursing Homes for many years. Later in retirement, she also helped many people as a home health aide. Bridget loved the Red Sox and Patriots and would often be seen taking a walk in Webb Park.
Bridget is survived by her loving children Susan Butler and her significant other Matthew Gore of Quincy, Thomas McNamara of Weymouth, Christine McNamara of Weymouth, and James McNamara and his wife Andrea of Rockland, her cherished grandchildren Brendan, Alanna, Liam, Brielle, and Jillian. She is also survived by her former spouse who remains to be very supportive, Francis McNamara of Weymouth, and her siblings Margaret Folan, Nora Walsh, Kathleen Tanney, and Patricia Kneeland.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours for Bridget on Thursday, December 5, 2019 from 4-8pm in the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth, MA. Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9:30am on Friday for a Celebration of Life prior to the Funeral Mass which will be held at St. Jerome’s Church in N. Weymouth at 10:30am. Burial will immediately follow in Fairmount Cemetery, Weymouth.
