Suzanne Elaine (Barker) Oldmixon
Loving wife and mother, Bartlett resident from 1995-2003

Suzanne Elaine (Barker) Oldmixon, 86, of Weymouth, MA, died peacefully in her home on October 19, 2019.

She was born July 29, 1933 in Boston, MA to Dr. John R. and Mrs. Cathryn J. Barker. She attended Regis College (1956), teaching for a number of years in Newport before joining the Navy as a WAVE. She was stationed in Pensacola, Florida, where she met her late husband, Captain William J. Oldmixon, USN. Together they raised six children, and in 1995 retired to Bartlett, New Hampshire. They loved their retirement together in the White Mountains. After her husband’s passing in 2003 she moved to Weymouth, MA where she has since lived, enjoying the company of her children and grandchildren. She was strong and wise, with a wicked sense of humor. Although her family was her greatest joy, she also loved westerns, golf and scenic drives through the White Mountains with her beloved husband, Bill.

She is survived by her daughters, Carol, Cathryn, Mary, Joan and Elizabeth, her son and daughter-in-law, William and Kaoru, and her two cherished grandchildren, Sam and Sophie. Preceded in death by her parents, her sister Joan Shaw and brother Harry Barker, she is also survived by her sisters Cathryn Barker, Molly Shaw, Julie Cantelli, brothers John Barker and Thomas Barker, as well as a loving extended family.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the visiting hours for Suzanne on Monday, October 21, 2019 from 4-8pm in the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) Weymouth, MA. Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 8am Tuesday for a Celebration of life prior to the Funeral Mass which will be held at St. Mary’s Church in Hanover at 9am.
