Jean Davin, age 57, passed away at home in Raynham on May 26th surrounded by her loving family. Born in Quincy, Jeannie grew up in Weymouth where she graduated from Weymouth South High School in 1979. Jeannie received her BA in Social Work from Salem State University and earned her Masters of Science in Early Childhood Education from Walden University. She was a courageous woman who fought tirelessly for what and who she believed in. She worked for many years at Greater Brockton Healthy Families and most recently at Eliot Community Human Services. Throughout Jeannie’s career, she touched many with her strong advocacy and dedication to empowering families. She was also a mentor for many in gaining sobriety and an advocate for the rights of adults with disabilities serving for 20 years on the Human Rights Committee for Growthways, Inc.
Jeannie enjoyed spending time at the beach, gardening, working on craft projects and was a DIY extraordinaire. Chocolate was another love of hers as was crocheting and coloring. She was a fan of all things Disney, enjoying many trips to Disney World. Spending time with her family was what she enjoyed most. Being the youngest of 7 children she learned early on the importance of family. She was a remarkable mother, a fun and loving aunt and a wonderful, warm sister.
Jeannie leaves behind her son, Christopher Davin and his partner, Paul Manning, her step-daughter Kimberly Roslund of Leicester, her step-son Brandon Roslund of Leicester, her sisters Judith Canty and her husband Michael of South Easton, Joyce Martino and her husband Joseph of South Weymouth, Janine Davin-Sweeney and her husband Michael of Scituate, Jayne St. Croix and her husband Francis of Halifax; her brother, John Davin of Plymouth; also her sister-in-law, Carol Davin of Livermore CA. She will also be greatly missed by her many nieces and nephews, extended family and multitude of friends. Jeannie is pre-deceased by her fiancé Michael Roslund, as well as her parents, James and Jennie Davin, her brother James Davin and nieces, Jessica Martino and Jennifer St. Croix.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visiting hours for Jean on Thursday May 30 from 4-8pm in the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Service located at 134 Pleasant St., (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth. A Funeral Service will be held for relatives and friends on Friday, May 31, at 11am in the Holy Nativity Church, 8 Nevin Road in S. Weymouth.
