Rose Walling

Rose “Rosie” H. Walling (Lanahan), age 85, of Weymouth passed away peacefully at home on February 23, 2019 with her family by her side. Rose was born on December 26, 1933 to her parents the late Henry and Sarah Lanahan. Rose was a life long resident of N. Weymouth.
Rose loved to travel with her loving husband Irv. She loved going to Hawaii, Las Vegas and Disney World. She never passed up an opportunity to cruise the Islands. Rose loved to host cookouts by the pool for all her friends and family. She especially enjoyed having family dinners and holidays including her favorite, St. Patrick’s Day.
Rose spent many years working at Convenient Food Mart and Tedeschi’s in N. Weymouth where she loved seeing all of her customers. Rose was a long time parishioner of St. Jerome’s Church in N. Weymouth.
Rose was the beloved wife to the late Irving S. Walling, devoted mother to Irving Walling Jr. of Revere, William D. Walling of Weymouth, James F. Walling of Plymouth and Sally A. Holmes and her husband John of Abington, loving Nanna to William Walling Jr., Jessica Sweeney, Erica Walling, Edward and Michael Holmes and the late Jennifer Walling. Rose was predeceased by her siblings Henry Lanahan and Mary Barron. She was also the caring aunt to many loving nieces and nephews and is survived by Carole Walling, Cindy Siegel-Kiely and her daughter-in-law Eileen Walling. Rose will be missed by all her friends and family.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the visiting hours for Rose on Wednesday February 27, 2019 from 4-8pm in the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth, MA. Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9:30am Thursday for a Celebration of Life prior to the Funeral Mass which will take place at St. Jerome’s Church in N.
