Shirley Roberts

Shirley E. Roberts (Loukola), age 83, passed away suddenly at home on Sunday, September 23, 2018. Shirley was born in Quincy then raised and educated in Weymouth. She married her beloved husband Winthrop in 1955 where they settled in Weymouth to raise their family. Shirley worked at Stetson Shoe for many years before Sealy Mattress in Randolph from where she retired in 1998. She and Win split their time between Florida and Maine for many years before they finally settled in Maine to be closer to family on Little Ossipee Lake in Waterboro. She called the lake her front yard. It was a place that family and many friends passed through and no matter who it was that visited, she always made them feel welcomed.

Through the years Shirley loved traveling with Win, snowmobiling in the winter, swimming in the summer, playing tennis, crocheting, sitting on the deck playing cribbage and cards, enjoying the sights and sounds of the lake and having good conversation. It was where she watched her kids and grandchildren learn to swim and waterski. It was where she saw many beautiful sunsets.

Shirley was predeceased by her beloved husband Winthrop Roberts. She is survived by her loving children John Roberts and his wife Eleanor of Waterboro, ME, Bill Roberts and his wife Shelley of Weymouth, the late Randy Roberts, and Shirley’s daughter-in-law Diane Roberts-Parris and her husband Mark of Bridgewater. She is also the cherished grandmother to Elyse, Amy, Carly, Nate, Danny and Morgan and the great-grandmother of Bryson.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the visiting hours for Shirley on Saturday, September 29, 2018 from 4-6pm with a service honoring Shirley’s life immediately following at the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) Weymouth, MA 02190. Interment will be private at a later date in Elmwood Cemetery, Bridgewater. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Shirley’s name to the Dana Faber Cancer institute in Boston, Mass.
