Ralph Russo, age 96, of Weymouth passed away at home on July 15, 2018. Ralph was born, raised, and educated in Brooklyn, NY. He joined the Marines in 1942 and served his country through WWII and Korea before retiring in 1963. Ralph was a talented shortstop, and even turned down the Chicago Cubs at one point so he could continue serving his country in the Marines.
Ralph married his beloved wife of 54 years, who was a fellow Marine, Jacqueline in 1955. After starting a family and moving state to state because of their military careers, Ralph and Jacqueline settled in Weymouth in 1963 where they have cultivated their family and created many fond memories. Ralph worked at the South Boston US Postal HUB from 1963-1985.
In retirement Ralph summered with his wife in Ellis Haven in Plymouth for over 30 years. Ralph was a laid back, caring man who will be remembered for his true American Spirit and the excellent example he has shown his many family members.
Ralph was predeceased by his wife Jacqueline Russo (Fahey). He is the loving father of Patricia Dustin and her husband Robert of NY, and Vincent Russo and his fiancé Kim Willett of Weymouth, cherished grandfather of Stacey, Matthew, Rylee, Jessica and her husband Patrick, Stephanie, Ashley, and the late Ryan. Ralph is also survived by four great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the visiting hours for Ralph from 4-8pm on Thursday July 19, 2018 in the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) Weymouth, MA. Relatives and friends will gather at the funeral home on Friday at 9:45am for a Funeral Service which will begin promptly at 10am. Interment will immediately follow at Fairmount Cemetery, Weymouth.
