Marie "Chris" Wilbur

Marie Christine “Chris” Wilbur (Atkins), age 71, of W. Wareham and formerly of Weymouth passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 17, 2018. Chris was born, raised, and educated in Brighton. She married her husband, Robert Yusko, in 1975 and they settled in Weymouth. Chris worked as a legal secretary for over ten years. She married her current husband, Richard Wilbur, in 2001 and after spending fifteen years in Weymouth they retired together to W. Wareham where they have enjoyed the last two years. Chris was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and overcame her symptoms for 27 years. She joined the Weymouth MS Support group and was active for years before moving to W. Wareham and was also active with the Weymouth Citizens Police Academy. Chris loved reading and had a talent for bringing some humor to any conversation, whether it was appropriate or not.

Chris is survived by her beloved husband of 17 years Richard Wilbur of W. Wareham and was predeceased in 1997 by her former husband Robert Yusko. Chris is the mother of Lisa Tener, Jill Pratt of W. Wareham and Michael Wilbur and his wife Anne of CT. Chris is also survived by her grandchildren Anna, Theresa, Chrissy, Amanda, Rebecca, and Justin, seven great-grandchildren, and her cousin Linda Svetz of Lincoln, MA.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the visiting hours for Chris on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 from 4-8pm in the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth, MA. Relatives and friends will gather in the Funeral Home at 9:30am on Thursday for a Celebration of Life prior to the Funeral Mass in honor of Chris’ life which will be held at 10:30am in the Immaculate Conception Church, Weymouth. Interment will immediately follow at High Street Cemetery in Hingham, MA. Donations may be made in Chris’ name to the MSPCA at 350 S. Huntington Ave, Jamaica Plain, MA 02130.
