Mary E. Dyson

Mary E. (Grant) Dyson, age 90. Passed away on Friday, June 23, 2017. Mary was the wife of the late Charles “Cliff” Dyson and is survived by her children, Eileen Elmore and her husband Richard of Pinole, CA, Stephen Dyson and his wife Marcia, and Mark Dyson both of Weymouth; her grandchildren, Kelly Elmore of San Francisco, CA and Brianne Dyson of West Bridgewater, her brother, Jack Grant and his wife, Anne of Quincy, and her faithful cat, Essie. She also leaves many devoted nieces and nephews and non-related sons and daughters. She is predeceased by her two brothers, Colonel Robert T. Grant Jr. and Paul Grant.
Mary was born in the Panama Canal Zone and grew up in Quincy Point before moving to Weymouth 60 years ago. She was a registered nurse for Quincy City Hospital for 15 years and the Queen Anne Nursing Home in Hingham for 25 years before retiring in 1992. Mary also had a home-based cottage industry of making and selling stuffed animals. She loved sewing, baking and reading and was a gentle, caring person who was truly interested in all her family and friends and was always a great listener.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visiting hours in honor of Mary on Wednesday, June 28 from 4-8 pm at the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth. Relatives and friends will gather in the Funeral Home at 8:30 AM on Thursday for a Celebration of Life prior to the Funeral Mass which will take place at St. Francis Xavier Church in Weymouth at 9:30 am.
