Alberta “Berta” Motta (Zagrodny), age 91, of Weymouth and formerly of Taunton passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on January 13, 2017. Alberta was born, raised, and educated in Taunton. She lived for many years in Weymouth where she raised her family. After marrying her husband John, they moved to CA for ten years before retiring to Plymouth. In recent years they lived together in Taunton then moved back here to Weymouth to live with family. Alberta was a devoted mother who loved her family and enjoyed raising her children.
Alberta is survived by her beloved husband John Motta, her loving children Ken Toner and his wife Muriel Littlefield of ME, Don Toner of SC, Steve Toner and his wife Sandy Berardi of Rockland, Jim Toner and his wife Linda St. Croix of Hanover, Janet O’Brien of S. Weymouth, and her step-daughter Virginia Adame and her husband Andy of AZ. Alberta is also survived by eight grandkids and three great-grandkids.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the visiting hours for Alberta on Tuesday January 17, 2017 from 4-8PM in the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) Weymouth, MA. Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home on Wednesday at 10AM for a Celebration of Life prior to the funeral mass which will be held in the St. Francis Xavier Church in Weymouth at 11AM. Burial will immediately follow at the MA National Cemetery in Bourne, MA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of your choice in memory of Alberta.
