Helen R. Affsa, age 69, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, November 14, 2016.
Helen was born in Dorchester and moved to Quincy at the age of nine, graduated from North Quincy High School in 1966 where she was voted the most athletic in her class. In 1969 Helen moved to Santa Monica, California where she spent most of her life but finally settled down in Bisbee, AZ before moving back to Massachusetts. She was very active in the LGBT Community and made many friends in her travels around the World.
Helen is survived by her brother Paul Affsa of Falmouth, her 2 sisters, Barbara Affsa LeCorn and Shirley Finch both of East Bridgewater and her best friend Zena. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
A celebration of Helen’s life will be held at the Derby Club House at 300 Linden Ponds Way in Hingham, MA on Sunday, November 20 at 12 noon.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Helen’s memory to the Boston Alliance of LGTQ Youth, 14 Beacon St., 3rd Floor, Boston, MA 02108 or the American Cancer Society 30 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701.
