Richard Bosworth, age 90, of Weymouth, passed away on October 9, 2016 peacefully surrounded by his loving family. Dick was born in Boston then raised and educated in Quincy. In 1943, Dick enlisted in the Navy and served with distinction as a combat veteran in World War II. In 1950, Dick re-enlisted in the Navy and again saw combat in the Korean War.
He met his wife, Irene Manupelli (Frongillo), and soon got married and settled in Weymouth where they resided for the last 35 years.
Dick worked for the Patriot Ledger for 35 years, and relished his retirement for many years thereafter. He enjoyed the time he spent with his family, especially the annual vacations he took with his three children. Dick was a passionate gardener, and loved puzzles. He also liked bus trips, and accompanying his wife Irene to the Whipple Senior Center. He will be remembered for his big heart, and is described by his family as a man of integrity and honor.
Dick is survived by his beloved wife of 34 years Irene Bosworth (Frongillo). He is the loving father of Tracy Bosworth-Downey and her husband Lloyd of Charleston, ME, Richard Bosworth Jr. and his wife Mary of Anchorage, AK, and Laurie Bosworth of Golden, IL, step-father to Linda Hanover, Elaine Colonna, and Steven Manupelli, and devoted grandfather of Kevin, Kristen, Robyn, Melanie, Shane, Cameron, Ally, Dan, and Chris. Dick is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the visiting hours for Dick on Thursday October 13, 2016 from 5-8PM in the C.C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth, MA. Relatives and friends will gather Friday morning at the Old South Union Congregational Church, located at 25 Columbian St. Weymouth, for a Funeral Service which will begin promptly at 11AM. Internment will be at the MA National Cemetery located in Bourne at 1:45PM. Donations in memory of Dick may be made to the Pat Roche Hospice House located at 86 Turkey Hill Ln, Hingham, MA 02043.
