Ellen Murphy

Ellen Murphy, age 92, of Braintree and formerly of Centerville passed away after a long illness on July 10, 2016. Ellen was born, raised, and educated in E. Boston. She had many jobs in business, advertising, and film production industries. Her most notable position was Vice President of September Productions which she retired from. Ellen has lived in Quincy, Melrose, and eventually retired to Centerville for the last 25 years with her husband of 43 years William Murphy. Ellen loved playing tennis with her friends and had travelled the world her whole life.
Ellen is survived by her beloved husband William D. Murphy of Braintree and formerly of Centerville. She is the loving mother of Glenn Caterer and his wife Margaret of Weymouth, cherished grandmother to John Caterer and his Wife Laura of Hanson and Jill Cotter and her husband Michael of Needham. Ellen is also the loving “GiGi” of Jake, Lexi, Andrew, and Abby. Ellen is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and her sister Lolly Wamness of Peobody.
Services for Ellen are going to be private for her family and will be handled by the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located in Weymouth, MA. She will be interred in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Kingston, MA. Donations may be made in Ellen’s memory to the Alzheimer's Association 480 Pleasant Street Watertown, MA 02472.
