Joan "Joanie" Sands

Julia “Joanie” Sands (Farragher), age 82, of S. Weymouth passed away peacefully on June 2, 2016. Joanie was born, raised, and educated in S. Boston. Joanie was predeceased by her beloved husband Howard “Bunny” Sands in 1996.Joanie loved being involved and caring for her grandchildren and family. Joanie enjoyed bingo and travelling with her family. She will be remembered for being such an amazing mother, and also, for her overall caring character.
Joanie was the loving mother of Debbie Page and her husband Mike of S. Weymouth, and Chuck Sands of S. Weymouth, devoted grandmother to Matthew Page and his wife Kristen of Medfield, and Stephen Page and his wife Alma of Wakefield, cherished great-grandmother to Maeve, Emma, and Siobhan. Joanie is also survived by her brothers Peter and Dennis Farragher.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours for Joanie on Monday June 6, 2016 from 4-8 PM at the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth. Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 8:45 AM on Tuesday for Celebration of Life prior to the Funeral Mass in honor of Joanie at St. Helen’s Church located at 383 Washington St., Norwell, MA at 10AM. Interment will immediately follow at Blue Hill Cemetery in Braintree, MA. In Lieu of flowers donations in memory of Joanie may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at 480 Pleasant St, Watertown, MA 02472.
