Muriel (Cameron) Barnes, age 96, a longtime Braintree resident passed away on May 15, 2016. Muriel was born and raised in Braintree, where she also met her dear husband Norman and raised their family together. During her time in Braintree, she was very active at First Baptist Church in Weymouth where she taught Sunday School for years. She was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will always be remembered by her family and friends for her selfless personality, love of knitting, incredible baking skills and mastery of kings in the corner. Above all else, she adored her family and doted endlessly upon her grandchildren.
Muriel was predeceased by her beloved husband Norman Barnes in 1989. She was the loving mother of Catharine Barnes of Hull, cherished grandmother to Lisa Mangan and her husband Conor of Kingston, Cheryl St.Don of Colorado, and Michael St.Don of Colorado, proud great-grandmother of Myles, Declan, Claire, and Cole. Muriel is also survived by her sister Violet Cameron of Weymouth.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the visiting hours for Muriel on Thursday May 19, 2016 from 5-8PM in the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) Weymouth, MA. Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home on Friday morning for a service in honor of Muriel that will begin at 11AM. Burial will immediately follow at Blue Hill Cemetery in Braintree, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations in Muriel's memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association MA Chapter at 480 Pleasant St. Watertown, MA 02472.
