Former Braintree Deputy Fire Chief, Richard (Dick) Wentworth Alley went to be with the Lord on April 20, 2016 at age 83. He was born at home in Quincy on July 4, 1932 to Osmond Filmore Alley and Helen Gertrude Wentworth Alley. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Baglione Alley and three daughters, LeeAnn Masley and her husband Joseph of Marshfield; Dawn Marie Keplinger and her husband Charles of Harrisonburg, VA and Susan Merrill and her husband David of Baldwin, ME. Survived by three sisters, Helen Madden, Grace Bowie and Jackie DelGrosso. In addition, three stepchildren, Phillip Baglione and wife Noelle; Donna Haskins and her husband Kevin; Catherine Whalen and husband Joseph, all of Hull. Also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Beverly Jean Doble Alley.
Dick worked with his father as a sewing machine repairman, served in the US Navy and was the retired Deputy Fire Chief for the Town of Braintree. He was actively involved in many activities including the Braintree Council on Aging.
Dick was recognized by the American Red Cross for his blood platelets donations. He worked with the children, youth and men of Crossroads Worship Center, Weymouth, where he was a valued member and beloved by all who knew him.
He was formerly a member of New Hope Foursquare Church, Weymouth.
Visiting hours will be at Crossroads Worship Center, 241 Broad Street, Weymouth on Sunday, April 24 from 2-4 pm with a Memorial Service at 4 pm. A reception will follow in the church Fellowship Hall. Burial will be private.
