Philip Healy Sr., Age 85, of Weymouth passed away suddenly on April 9, 2016 at his home. Phil was born, raised, and educated in Jamaica Plain. After he met his wife, Rita Healy (Johnson), they got married and started a family in Quincy, then continued raising them in Braintree for many years. Later, Phil moved to Weymouth after meeting his second wife, Joyce Healy (Stevens), where they resided for over 30 years. Phil was always very active in the Weymouth community but you tended to see his true nature when someone needed help of any kind, and Phil was always more than happy to lend a hand. He entered the Navy at the age of 39 and was proud to serve as Chief of the Seabees.
Phil was predeceased by his wife of 20 years Joyce Healy (Stevens). He is survived by his first wife and the mother of his children Rita K. Healy (Johnson) of Brockton, his companion and best friend of many years Wanda Putnum of Weymouth, his loving children Karen Healy-Baker and her husband Paul of Quincy, Liisa Healy-Coyle and her husband Joseph of Brockton, Robin Healy Kent and her late husband Scott of Whitman, Philip Healy and his wife Marilyn of Whitman, and Geoffrey Healy and his wife Brenda of Walpole, and his 7 devoted siblings. Phil is also survived by his grandchildren Tonya, Fallon, Philip, Jayme, Hayden, Riley, Danielle, Drew, Robert, and Kyle and many nieces and nephews. Phil is the great-grandfather of four.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the visiting hours for Phil on Thursday April 14, 2016 from 5-8 at the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth 02190. Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 8:30AM on Friday for a Celebration of Life prior to the Funeral Mass in honor of Phil which will be held at 9:30AM at St. Albert the Great Church, Weymouth. Interment will be at Bourne National Cemetery in Bourne, MA at 1:45PM. In Lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in memory of Phil to the Quincy Animal Shelter at 56 Broad St, Quincy, MA 02169.
