Christine Melanson (Ewen), age 63, a lifelong resident of Weymouth passed away suddenly on April 5, 2016 at her home. Chris met her husband, Charles, through playing softball and, shortly after, got married then settled with him in Weymouth where they started a family. She worked at Academy Avenue School in Weymouth for over 20 years and her friends and family would say that she was passionate about her work and the children she cared for there. Chris enjoyed the Red Sox, Lobster Hut in Plymouth, whale watches with her son Danny, and had a special place in her heart for her two dogs Mo and Reggie. Most of all she loved any excuse to get her family and friends together, including board games, which she would almost always win even if Chris had to change the rules in her favor. Chris will be missed for her friendly and caring personality.
Chris was predeceased by her beloved husband of 20 years Charles R. Melanson. She is survived by her loving sons Danny Melanson of Weymouth and Douglas Melanson along with his fiancé Ashley Donahue of Weymouth, her siblings James Ewen of Texas, Kate Charleton of Weymouth, Gerry Ewen and his wife Denise of Quincy, and the Late Dennis Ewen, her sisters-in-law Ellen Ewen, Charlene O’Connor, and Lori Melanson. She is also survived by her mother-in-law Georgianna Melanson and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours for Chris on Sunday April 10, 2016 from 2-6pm at the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) Weymouth 02190. Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 11AM on Monday for a funeral service in honor of Chris.
